How rules work

Three simple steps from setup to automatic routing.

01

Create your rules

Add as many rules as your plan allows. Each rule has a name, a destination URL, and any combination of conditions.

02

Set conditions

Mix and match up to 6 condition types per rule β€” geo, device, OS, browser, time, and day. All conditions must match for the rule to fire.

03

Order by priority

Rules are evaluated top-to-bottom. The first rule that matches all its conditions wins. The Default rule always acts as fallback.

Order matters β€” first match wins

Rules are checked from top to bottom. The first rule whose conditions all match is used β€” the rest are skipped. Put your most specific rules at the top and your broadest rules lower down. The Default rule always sits at the bottom and cannot be removed β€” it catches any click that didn't match any rule above it.

Frequently asked questions

The number of rules per link depends on your plan. The free plan includes a limited number of rules; paid plans unlock significantly more. The default rule doesn't count toward this limit.

Yes. Each rule can use any combination of conditions β€” for example, Country = US AND Device = Mobile AND Time = 09:00–18:00. All conditions must match for the rule to apply.

The Default rule always fires as a fallback. Every link has one Default rule that cannot be deleted β€” it's the safety net that ensures every click reaches a destination.

Yes. Each rule has its own click counter in your analytics dashboard, so you can see exactly how many visitors matched each condition.

No β€” Rules and A/B Testing are mutually exclusive. When A/B Testing is enabled on a link, Rules are paused, and vice versa. Switch between modes anytime.
